Principal’s Update – Term 1 Week 5

Start of the year

2025 has started smoothly. Students are settled, engaged and approaching their learning positively! Staff also continue to be highly engaged and show genuine collective care for students and their progress. On a personal note, I continue to feel very warmly welcomed to the Seaview High School community, grateful for the opportunity and excited about the year ahead. As I continue to learn about our school, I’ve asked to meet with every staff member 1:1 or in a small group and am asking three questions; What do you love about Seaview High School? What should we keep doing? Seaview High School could be even better if?

I take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge Penny Tranter – for supporting my transition into the school, for building such an awesome school community and for caring so much! As a result of Penny’s transformational leadership, Seaview High School is a truly awesome place for children to grow and learn and for teachers to work and thrive.

2025 New staff

We are pleased to welcome a number of new staff members joining us across Science, Arts, Maths, HASS, English, Drama HPE, Media, Administration and F&H.

2024 Year 12 Results

The percentage of results in the A grade band category was 30.5%. This is a wonderful achievement for our school and a 6% increase from the previous year, so a fantastic result. 76.9% of our results were in the A or B grade band, again a great result. Coupled with our retention data, Seaview High School can be very proud of these results.

Welcoming our Year 7s

We are getting to know our newest Seaview students. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces as they embraced a range of activities, including Pickleball, Drama class, Slapball, tabletop games, dancing, knitting, and planting sunflower seeds. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things they accomplish this year.

Year 12 Leadership and Culture Retreat

The inaugural Year 12 Leadership and Culture Retreat bought our senior cohort together for two days of connection, leadership, and growth at West Beach Parks. Through a range of team-building activities, students strengthened their connections, set personal goals, and considered the legacy they want to leave at Seaview. A huge thank you to our Year 12 students, their families and staff for making this retreat such a memorable and meaningful experience. It truly has set the foundation for a positive and successful final year at Seaview.

Facilities Update

The mural project, led by artist Bohie Blackwood, was designed to celebrate Seaview’s dedication to Inclusivity, Safety, and Community. Last year, Bohie held a workshop with students to shape the concept and design. Today it hangs on the Food building creating a vibrant feature that reflects the values of Seaview.

The kitchen facilities in FS1 were upgraded during the break, providing more opportunities for practical teaching and learning.

High Achievers Morning Tea

We were super excited to welcome the 2024 high achievers and their families to a special event this term. The event began with a morning tea, followed by a Q&A panel with current Year 12 students and teachers during an assembly. A big thank you to all who joined us and for sharing their strategies and inspiration with our current Year 12s.
