Principal’s Update – Term 1, Week 11
Seaview High School Community,
As Term 1 draws to a close, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all students, families, and staff for your ongoing support, engagement, and enthusiasm throughout a vibrant and successful term. Together, we have achieved a great deal – from our memorable Open Night and spirited Sports Day to the many enriching learning experiences and community events that have shaped the start of our year.
This update celebrates some of these highlights, recognises the dedication of our staff, and shares important staffing and operational news for the coming term. I would also like to acknowledge the ongoing efforts of our Parents and Friends Committee, whose involvement continues to enhance our school community and support our shared goals. We remain committed to providing opportunities for growth, achievement, and connection for all members of our Seaview High School community.
Thank you once again for your collective efforts and support across Term 1. I wish you all a safe and restful break and look forward to welcoming everyone back in Term 2.
Craig Duguid

International Women’s Day – 6 March 2026
To mark International Women’s Day, a group of our Year 12 Women’s Studies students and student leaders, attended the official breakfast in the city, where they had the opportunity to hear from Katherine Bennell-Pegg, Australia’s first female astronaut. At school, we continued the celebrations with an afternoon tea, where students and staff heard from guest speaker, Libby Trainor Parker, a passionate advocate for women’s health who has played an important role in raising awareness about Endometriosis. As part of the day, we also created a video featuring staff and students sharing women that inspire them, recognising the many individuals who continue to shape and influence our lives.

Open Night – 18 March 2026
Our Open Night was a wonderful success, with more than 800 families joining us throughout the evening. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to visit. It was a pleasure welcoming families onto our school grounds, and we hope you enjoyed exploring our learning spaces and gaining a sense of the vibrant culture that defines our school.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to our dedicated staff and students for their efforts in the lead‑up to the event and on the night itself. Bringing Open Night to life truly is a team effort, and their commitment made the evening something special.
Sports Day – 26 March 2026
What a fantastic day celebrating our school and team spirit! Despite a brief downpour early on, the energy stayed high and the enthusiasm did not fade. From the Glazbrook Shield Relay and Tug of War to the rock-climbing wall, long jump, team sports, face painting, novelty events and E-sports, there were so many highlights to enjoy. We hope our students had an amazing day and created some lasting memories.
With 487 points, Morphett took the win! Closely followed by Kingston on 465 points, Pitman on 447, and Flinders on 443.

Incursions / Excursions
Our students continue to access a range of extra-curricular and learning opportunities through Incursions and Excursions – some of these opportunities are outlined below.
- Year 12 Drama – Take the Stage Drama Day at the Adelaide Festival Centre
Students engaged directly with professional theatre artists across 3 focused 75-minute workshops, exploring advanced performance skills, creative collaboration, and expressive techniques. The workshops were highly interactive and led by working theatre professionals. The day also included a Q&A panel with all participating artists, offering insights into careers in performing arts and the role of drama in contemporary practice. This excursion allowed students to deepen their understanding of dramatic practice, connect classroom study with real-world industry experience and most importantly they had fun!
2. Year 12 Chemistry – Analytical Chemistry Workshop at Flinders University
Year 12 Chemistry students took part in a student-led workshop, followed by a chemistry presentation. It was a valuable opportunity to build on their SACE Stage 2 learning through hands-on experiments, including chromatography and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). A great day of learning beyond the classroom.
3. Year 7 Special Interest Sport – Gr8tr Me Session
Students took part in their first gr8r Me session, focusing on making positive changes to their sporting performance. Working with Dan has been a fantastic experience, and it’s been great to see students reflect on their learning and share their insights. The session supported the development of resilience, teamwork and self-regulation, while also enhancing skills, decision-making and contribution to team dynamics.
These sessions lay a strong foundation for continued growth in both sporting performance and personal development across the program.
